Brief Description:
Subliminal Image Pro (SIP) helps you explore the idea of subliminal images. Does it work? You decide. SIP flashes images in the center of the display on top of everything. Images can be grouped into categories; images displayed are selected from images that are checked in list or random order.

When you launch Subliminal Image Pro you see the Control Panel. Set the top slider for the on-screen time (1 ms [1/1000 of a second] to 50 ms). Set the middle slider for the period between flashes (5 to 60 seconds) and set the bottom slider for the darkness of the image. Choose whether images should be chosen in list order or at random. Above, you see that the on-screen time is set for 1 ms, the period between flashes is set for 40 sec, the darkness is set for 50% and images are set to be selected at random. At the top left of the Control Panel there is a checkbox to click if you want the SIP Control Panel to be minimized immediately after launch. Note: Minimize the Control Panel by clicking on the small yellow button at the top left of the window and let SIP run as you work in other applications. If you minimize SIP by using the Menu bar (Subliminal Image Pro > Hide), the images will not continue to flash while you use other applications. At the top right of the Control Panel there is a checkbox to click if you want images to fill the screen; otherwise, images will be displayed at their original size.

At the first launch of Subliminal Image Pro, a folder titled "SIPPictures" is created in your Users/~/Document folder. Copy image files that you want to use with Subliminal Image Pro into the SIPPictures folder. Images may be jpg, tif, tiff, png or gif formatted files. Files must use the appropriate suffix (e.g., FileName.jpg, FileName.tif, FileName.tiff, FileName.png, or FileName.gif -
image aliases are not supported). Do not use folders within the SIPPictures folder. Images in the Image Maintenance window (accessed from the menu bar) are synchronized with images in the "SIPPictures" folder at launch. New images are added at the bottom of the list. Deleted files are removed from the list.

Because a display's width is wider than its height, it is best to use landscape formatted images. However, you may use portrait format images that are smaller (in pixels) than the display height resolution.
If you use portrait formatted images that are larger than the display height resolution, the images may be rotated.

Above you see that the user has copied seven image files (tiff, png, and jpg files) into the SIPPictures folder and has created six categories. Image file names have been dragged into the categories. The user has changed the generic image file names (typically DSC01000.jpg) to names that can be recognized. The user control-clicked on the Diploma.tiff image name to see the image in the upper right. Note the image name below the image.

Image Maintenance:
The Image Maintenance window (accessed from the menu bar) helps you manage your images.

  1. All valid image file names in the SIPPictures folder appear in the table.
  2. Add Categories to organize your image file names into easily managed groups (e.g., Health, Wealth, Success, Travel, Creativity, Positive Attitude, Monday, Tuesday, etc.). If you make a Category and then decide to change its name, just delete it and create a new Category with the new name.
  3. Control-click an image file name to see it.
  4. Command-click an image file name to change it, usually from something like "DSC01000.jpg", to a descriptive name (e.g., "Best Friend.jpg").
  5. Categories are added at the bottom of the table or immediately below a selected row. Click and drag Categories up or down in the table if you want to change their positions. Click and drag image file names under the Categories.
  6. Only checked image file names are chosen for display (in listed or random order) . You can check individual image file names, double-click a Category to check all images file names in that Category, or shift-double-click a Category to uncheck all image file names in that Category.

When you Command-click an image file name, the above window is displayed with the old image file name in the top field. Note that the file suffix (e.g., ".jpg") is not shown. If you want to change the image file name, type the new name in the lower field and click on the "Change Name" button. If you want to delete the image file from the SIPPictures folder, click on the "Delete File" button. Hopefully, this file is saved elsewhere.

Control Panel settings and Image Maintenance contents are saved between sessions.

You may be surprised that you can perceive a very brief and dim flash of a picture. Because of its perceived power and influence at the subliminal level, this effect is not allowed in TV advertisements in many countries.
