Bridge Hands was developed to help a new Bridge player learn to make initial bids by providing an endless supply of random hands. No matter what Bridge bidding rules are used, this application should help improve bidding communications between Bridge partners. Bidding, which is an important part of playing Bridge, can be difficult for new players.

When you launch Bridge Hands you see a small window with a Bridge Hand. Cards are picked at random from a standard deck of cards, grouped by suit and sorted from Ace down to 2. Click on the "New Hand" button to get a new random Bridge hand.

Click on the "Show Page of Hands" button to bring up a window with eight random Bridge hands.

To print a Page of Bridge Hands, click on that window and use the Print Setup and Print menu picks from the menu bar. Click again on the "Show Page of Hands" button to get eight new random Bridge Hands.

The suggested use of this app is to generate pages of Bridge hands. Print two copies of each page and have each Bridge partner evaluate hands separately, count the hands' points and decide on opening bids. Then the partners should compare their answers and discuss their reasoning and use of the bidding rules. No matter what Bridge bidding rules are used, this approach should improve bidding communications between the partners.
